Xavier Gagnepain
Cello
A curious mind and a committed chamber musician, Xavier Gagnepain expresses his passion for music in countless forms.
A pupil of Maurice Gendron and winner of several international prizes (Munich, São Paulo…), he is invited by renowned orchestras across Europe. A passionate performer of contemporary music, he was the first to play the complete cycle dedicated to Paul Sacher.
He teaches at the PSPBB and the CRR of Boulogne-Billancourt and is invited to give masterclasses in France and abroad. He is also increasingly active as a conductor, performing in France, Spain and Portugal.
His book "Du musicien en général… au violoncelliste en particulier" (Cité de la Musique) remains a lasting success. His discography includes a complete recording of Gabriel Fauré's works for cello and piano with Jean-Michel Dayez, as well as a CD devoted to the work of Vincent Paulet.
Since January 2023, he has been President of the Association Française du Violoncelle.
